Day 2 - 22/09/18

KÖNIGSTEIN IM TAUNUS - BAD EMS

After waking up in the lovely superior and deluxe rooms of the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski an extensive breakfast buffet is waiting for you. After breakfast it's finally time to start with what we can do best: driving our beloved sports cars! Already soon after departure the undulating roads through the Taunus mountain range will be replaced by the steep roads down the deeper Rhine valley. When arriving at the Rhine river we will almost immediately cross the river using one of the car ferries, from which you will have a wonderful view on 'Burg Pfalzgrafenstein', an immemorial stronghold and former toll collection point on a small island in the middle of the river. On the other side of the Rhine we will continue our way using the undulating roads through the tortuous Rhine valley. Around noon we will arrive at the magnificent 'Schloss Rheinfels', built in 1245 and the biggest castle in the Rhine valley with a direct view on the Rhine itself. Here we will enjoy lunch with a panoramic view over the Rhine river. After lunch we will shortly leave the Rhine valley and enter the Moselle valley. After switching between these two valleys multiple times we will finally arrive at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, where the Moselle river meets the Rhine river. Wheels of Thrill arranged exclusive permission to park all our sports cars in front of the giant monument that stands as a symbol for Germany unity. After a short stop here we will leave Koblenz and follow the Lahn river towards the historical town of Bad Ems. This small city is world famous as former elite spa resort for royalty and other important individuals, of which history dates all the way back to the Roman Empire. Here we will be welcomed at Grand Hotel Bad Ems, situated in a traditional building located directly along the Lahn river. After a refreshing drink and various small snacks there will be plenty of time to enjoy the extensive spa facilities in the hotel, as well as enjoy a stroll along the river or through the pittoresk Bad Ems itself. In the evening there will be dinner in one of the hotel's private dining rooms. Of course there is plenty of time afterwards to enjoy more drinks at the bar. Finally the hotel's spacious rooms (all with riverside view of course) are waiting to accomodate you during the night. Sleep well...
